A personal mission statement is a guide to help individuals plan for what they intend to achieve. One of the characteristics or attributes that should be integrated into the personal mission statement is the goals or dreams that a person wants to achieve. Integrating goals or dreams in a personal statement is vital in creating a list of activities a person should do to achieve those goals and stay focused on achieving the goals and dreams despite facing distractions. The second characteristic and attribute is core values. Integrating core values in a personal mission statement is important because it helps establish the values needed to meet the anticipated goals and dreams. Listing values also helps identify who a person is and what their priorities are, thus guaranteeing focus toward meeting specific goals. The third characteristic is personal traits. Integrating personal traits in a personal mission statement is essential in aligning values and goals and informing the people who read the personal statement what to expect in terms of behavior and conduct.

Using My Personal Mission Statement to Define My Future

I plan to use my personal mission statement to define my future in various ways. To begin with, I will use the personal mission statement to determine what to add to my vision board so that I can stay focused on achieving the goals on the vision board. Secondly, I will share my personal statement with potential employers when writing my resume and curriculum vitae to tell them more about myself and what I intend to achieve so that they can evaluate the contribution I bring to their company. I will also use my personal statement to develop goals that align with my personal and career development plans to create a better future for myself.
